Cleft lip treatment at Sirius: we give babies a full life

In the people, a cleft (non-union) of the upper lip is called a “hare’s lip”. It is often combined with cleft palate. The disease is a congenital anomaly of development. Fortunately, it can be successfully treated surgically, and we are happy to report that the Sirius Dent Medical Center has quite a lot of experience in performing surgeries for the correction of nonunion of the upper lip with excellent results.
Just the other day, we had a child operated on with a cleft lip and palate. The operation was successful, the baby was hospitalized for three days, after which he was discharged home. He feels great, he was recently brought in to have his stitches removed.
Surgery for the correction of non-union of the upper lip and palate in children at the Sirius Dent Medical Center is jointly performed by Volodymyr Kryklyas, a well-known maxillofacial surgeon in Odesa with extensive experience in such operations, and our chief doctor, Denis Valkevich, who has more than 20 years of practice in maxillofacial surgery.
— There are two approaches to the surgical treatment of a cleft lip, — says Denys Vyacheslavovich. — The first is to operate on children almost immediately after birth. The second is to operate after the child reaches 6 months. We at Sirius are in favor of the second approach: it allows to make the postoperative scar minimal, that is, the result will be more aesthetic. Such an operation fundamentally changes the fate of the child for the better, ensuring the absence of bony deformities in the maxillofacial area in the future and successful socialization.
