What will happen if the tooth that has fallen out is not replaced?

What will happen if the tooth that has fallen out is not replaced?
You must have noticed: sometimes people go for years without one or two teeth, not daring to turn to specialists.
Most often, it is because of fear or because other things are a priority.

But what will happen if you do not pay attention to the problem for a long time? Will the void in place of the tooth remain only an aesthetic defect, or will it cause something more serious? Let’s figure it out.

– It all depends on where exactly the tooth is missing,” says Sirius-Dent chief doctor Denis Valkevich. — If we are talking about the tooth that completes the dental row, then you can live without it. The absence of one such tooth is not an indication for prosthetics. The masticatory function will not be disturbed, and the appearance of the face will not change. It is another matter if there is a missing tooth in the middle of the tooth row. In such cases, it often happens that adjacent teeth begin to shift towards each other, and the tooth on the opposite side grows. The body tries to close the void formed at the place of the missing tooth. And this threatens problems.

For example, if the sixth upper tooth is missing, then the seventh begins to tilt at 45 degrees and half covers the defect. At the same time, the fifth tooth moves away from the fourth and a gap appears between them – a diastema. The lower sixth tooth grows in length. And this over time creates a rather serious problem, because the gap between the fifth and seventh teeth is not completely closed, and a normal, full-fledged tooth cannot be placed there.

With this entire structure, the patient will walk for a year until all the teeth have moved into their places, and only then will we have the opportunity to restore the missing tooth.

Even if you don’t feel it, changes in the oral cavity occur every day. Our advice to you is not to postpone a visit to the doctor until better times. The longer you delay, the longer the road back to a perfect smile without embarrassment will be.
