Lifetime guarantee in dentistry – a reason to think?

Lifetime guarantee in dentistry – a reason to think?
Spoiler: we don't have a lifetime warranty.

And now in more detail…

Apparently, in no other medical field does talk about guarantees (not even lifetime ones) occur.

Well, won’t you demand a guarantee from a cardiac surgeon before heart surgery?

But in dentistry, guarantees are constantly being discussed.

The roots of the question probably still go back to the times when not only dentists, but also dentists who received not higher, but secondary special education, were engaged in dental prosthetics.

It is likely that they felt themselves not so much as doctors, but as dental technicians, and once one of them, knowing the average life of their products, said to a patient: “I give a 10-year guarantee on your crown.”

The patient, when he went to another specialist, provoked him to offer an even greater guarantee by telling him about a competitor’s ten-year guarantee. And so it went.

At one time, the warranty terms in dentistry approved by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine were in effect: 5 years for crowns, 1 year for removable prostheses, and 6 months for fillings.

But now there are no such norms, and that is right. After all, even when purchasing a car, not all its components are guaranteed the same.

And here we are talking about the human body. Any artificial formation in a person’s mouth is in a living environment and its “fate” is tied to the nature of food, products and many other factors.

However. We answer questions!)

At Sirius-Dent, we do not offer a lifetime warranty on implants. But we define a warranty period of 10 years for them (for Nobel, Straumann and B&B implants, subject to annual preventive visits to our doctor).

If something happens to the implant during this time, we will redo the installation work at the expense of the dent medical center or implant manufacturer. At the same time, although we set the expiration date at 10 years, the service life of implants is not limited!
You can really spend your whole life with them, we just think it is incorrect to give a lifetime guarantee on it.
