Why should you not be afraid of pediatric anesthesia?

The practice of treating children’s teeth under sedation anesthesia has quite a lot of observational experience in Europe, the USA, and Israel, where stress as a source of various pathologies is taken seriously. If during medical manipulation the child is excited, scared, cries, the manipulation should be stopped.
Sedation is required primarily to relieve stress and is a routine procedure in the above countries.
Ukraine also has experience in its application, but, unfortunately, it is not yet necessary to talk about its mass. In particular, in Odesa, our dent medical center is one of the few where children are treated under anesthesia.
For Sirius-Dent, pediatric anesthesia is as much a daily practice as it is for our colleagues in Europe.
At the same time, it is important to understand that a doctor can reasonably recommend sleep treatment to your child not only in case of serious pathology. The main indicator is the psycho-emotional state of the child.
When examining a child, a dentist assesses:
- the contact of the child (is it possible to negotiate with him);
- the scope of work and the possibility of reliable anesthesia of the working area with the help of local anesthesia.
Next, a decision is made about anesthesia.
There are children who categorically do not allow doctors to visit them, so even the smallest manipulations, such as the removal of a milk tooth, are better for them to be carried out under sedation.
It is very important who administers anesthesia. It must be an anesthesiologist-reanimatologist specializing in pediatric anesthesiology.
